BMH SMOKING CESSATION CLASSES

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital offers these free Ready, Set …STOP classes to help people stop smoking. The classes run for six consecutive weeks and are sponsored by Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and the Vermont Department of Health. Smokers and other tobacco users meet weekly with a trained facilitator and learn the dangers of smoking, strategies to overcome cravings, and what to expect on the quit date.
Smokers are sometimes more addicted to the habit and process of smoking and the comfort provided than they are to the nicotine.

The programs provide low-cost and often free nicotine replacement products as the tools smokers need to help kick the habit.

Free Quit Smoking Aids Now Offered, Including Home Delivery

The Vermont Department of Health and Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, through its Ready, Set…STOP quit smoking programs, and along with Vermont¹s healthcare insurers, are making it easier for Vermonters to quit smoking by offering free nicotine replacement patches, gum, or lozenges and shipping them directly to your home. Also available now are flavored gum and lozenges: fresh mint, cinnamon surge, and fruit chill gums, and the Commit Lozenge is now available in cherry flavor.

Vermonters who sign up for free quit smoking through the BMH Ready, Set…STOP program, or who call the Vermont Quit Line, can now get home delivery of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products. They are provided free of charge and, again include free shipping. It has been found that programs like Ready, Set…STOP at BMH, along with the Vermont Quit Line, when combined with the use of the nicotine replacement therapy products, can double the chances of success.

The Vermont Quit Line toll-free number is 1-877-YES-QUIT (1-877-937-7848).
