VISITOR INFORMATION

Visiting Hours - BMH has recently established specific visiting hours in order to provide better patient care. The hospital has always endeavored to accommodate visitors during a time when a family member is experiencing acute illness, surgery, recovery or terminal illness. However, due to staff concerns, and for the safety and comfort of the patient, visiting hours at BMH are now somewhat more regulated.

Regular Medical/Surgical Patient Floors (2nd & 3rd) - 11 a.m. To 8 p.m. After 8:00 p.m., an announcement will be made on the public address system. Please oblige the request to end visiting hours unless you have received special dispensation from either a physician or nurse. Thank you.

Special Care Unit
Hours correspond with the schedule for regular patient floors (above) with the caveat that visitors (limited to family members, or close friends at the patient's or family's discretion) may be asked by nursing to limit the number of visitors, the length of the visit, or request a different (better) time for the patient. Supervised and healthy children of the family may also visit.

Birthing Center
The hours in this unit are open to family members who may visit the new mother and baby at any time, taking into consideration the wishes of the patient and the discretion of the nurse. Friends of the patient are requested to comply with the hospital visiting hour schedule as noted for the regular patient floors. Only parents and grandparents are allowed to visit a newborn staying in the nursery.

Visitors under age 12, accompanied by an adult, are welcome in solariums, waiting rooms, and private rooms, or may obtain special permission from a unit nurse to visit a patient unable to travel out of the room.

BMH is a Smoke-Free Hospital
We ask visitors to comply with our smoke-free policy. A new designated smoking area has been created outside the hospital on the basement level. It is handicap accessible and is semi-enclosed. Patients and visitors are requested to use this area only for smoking purposes. Maps to the newly created area are available at the hospital lobby front desk and on patient floors at the nurses' units.
